A/W Essentials: Beauty Bases

While San Francisco weather can be a bit finicky, the seasons are definitely changing and with that my makeup changes too. My base becomes more of a light to medium coverage — sticking to products with great lasting power, especially for the harsh winter winds I'll be seein' on the East Coast in a few weeks.

Foundations /

  • YSL Le Teint Touché Éclat is still in rotation — I've been using this foundation for a few years and I probably will keep it around as long as they still make it. The coverage is perfect, it's buildable, and it lasts quite long which is a big thing for me when it comes to bases. It's more of my summer color but I can still get away with it (not for long I'm sure)
  • Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation has finally made it into my collection. While I usually stick to the same few foundations when it comes to repurchasing, I really wanted to try something a bit new! No regrets on this purchase — it's definitely going to be added to my rotating list of repurchases (along with NARS Tinted Moisturizer, Bobbi Brown Longwear, and Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua.
Pro-tip: I love mixing these two together or topping them off with Laura Mercier's Mineral Powder for a bit more coverage or extra-long wear.

Concealers /

I should preface by saying I've gained a new appreciation for concealers! I used to use them but wasn't really into them... until now. Now I might actually have a concealer addiction, oops.

  • For under the eyes I love using NARS Creamy Concealer — a product I once thought was over-hyped. Silly me. The consistency is beautiful, the coverage is everything you could possibly want, and the subtle brightness it brings to your face is kind of glorious.
  • For spots and blemishes I'm really into Laura Mercier's Secret Concealer. It's pretty high coverage and gets rid of any pesky areas I might want to cover up. On lazy days I'll use this around my nose / to cover general redness and I'll pop a powder or something light over it. Sometimes less is more, ya know?
And that's it for my A/W base essentials. Next in the series will probably be lips, cheeks, and eyes! What are your favorite foundations and concealers for the colder months?

Current Skincare

Skincare is ever-changing, at least for me. It's important to learn to adapt with your skin — and because of that I have a little bit of everything lying around the house. Lately my skin has been a bit finicky. It's safe to assume the weather change and frequent flights over the past few months have confused my poor face, but it's okay! There are lots of helpful products for all your skin needs.

I've been trailing Dr. Hauschka's Soothing Cleansing Milk. When it comes to skincare I'm most fickle with cleansers. This one is nice — it's not incredible by any means but the texture and fragrance are lovely and it does leave my face pretty clean. I have a feeling that one of these days I'll be reordering Aurelia's Miracle Cleanser. I went through a pot of it last fall and haven't stopped thinking about it since. It's probably time...

My moisturizer of choice is still Glossier's Priming Moisturizer. I love it! It's light and simple and leaves my face feeling like a nice fresh canvas, cuz that's what we want, right?

When it comes to masks, I've been really digging REN's ClearCalm 3 Acne Treatment Mask. I've been breaking out (womp womp) and this is definitely helping to rid and prevent any pesky spots! I was skeptical but it's definitely worth the price. It's a lil miracle worker and is easily one of the best acne related products I've ever used.

I'm trailing some Caudalie minis! I'm all about testing out before committing when it comes to spendy products. Caudalie's S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum is pretty nice as far as serums good. I feel like my face is a bit more supple and hydrated when I use this and honestly? It just feels gooooood. I'm also trying their S.O.S Morning Eye Rescue which is as great as it should be for being Caudalie. Seems to keep my eyes less puffy overall and so I can't complain. When I'm all out I'll probably pick up a full size of each of these because skincare.

If I'm spending a day around the house sans-makeup post-cleanse-and-mask, my serum of choice is Fresh's Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil. This is the kind of product that feels luxurious and stupidly nice on the skin. One that you swear works the moment you rub it in. It's like an instant shot of moisture! A little goes a long way with this stuff too.

Last but not least: Glossier's Soothing Face Mist. I use this stuff constantly— when I wake up, before the gym, after showering, after the gym, when I'm bored. Rose water forever. Don't underestimate the power of a simple face spray.

That pretty much sums up my skincare life at the current moment. I'm sure this will all change as the seasons and weather change but for now, this it! What are your favorite skincare products?!

Glossier Phase 1 Set

When one of your favorite beauty-focused internet-reads announces a surprise project, you pay attention. That was definitely the case for me when Into the Gloss announced Glossier. I mean, ITG is basically my beauty bible at this point — can you blame me?

The Phase 1 Set includes four products and the cutest little sticker set. Never a letdown with these guys, huh.

The Soothing Face Mist is magical. Magical in the sense that it's exactly the kind of product I want to use to refresh my skin during the day and just the perfect base after cleansing and before makeup application. The rosewater makes spritzing this on feel just a teensy bit luxurious, and I'm totally okay with that.

I got the Perfecting Skin Tint in Medium and I have no regrets. It's a very close match to my skin currently and I figure winter rolls around I can grab the lighter shade and mix the two. I was unsure if I'd like this due to how light and watery it seemed on the back of my hand but alas, I was wrong. I love the application (especially with a stippling brush or fingers) and the finish is gorgeous. It's light but not too light and it looks SO natural. Not to mention how dewy it is. This stuff is on daily rotation.

Aside from the fact that it's called the Balm Dotcom, I have to say that this little tube is kind of the bomb. I wasn't sure how I was going to use this stuff at first but my boo Amy told me to use it on my lips and hey, I'm a convert. I've also been applying to my cuticles and ugh, it's amazing. Super moisturizing and hydrating; it lasts for so long, even on lips! This is one of those products that I just need to be carrying with me at all times (and I do).

I'm picky when it comes to moisturizers, you should know this. It's so hard for me to find something light enough for my liking that also provides my skin with some real hydration. PSA: I love Glossier's Priming Moisturizer. It's light, it feels fresh on the skin, it fully skins in and doesn't leave a weird layer of leftover product after application. My face feels more supple and soft and I'm hoping that with continuous use, I'll see a little less redness too.

So I guess basically what I'm saying is that Glossier knocked it out of the park. I can't wait to see what they do next. Hurry up, Phase 2. I'll try to be patient.

Place of Interest: Mast Brothers Chocolate, Williamsburg, BK

One of the places I think I'll miss the most, other than St. Balmain, is probably Mast Brothers Chocolate. Why? Post-brunch chocolate chip cookies. The end.

...

Links:

  • I have to admit, I love seeing what kiddos eat all around the world.
  • Brunch Is for Jerks? I guess I'm a jerk. The point of view in this article is so aggressive and anti-millenial that I couldn't not laugh. It's brunch. Just let me enjoy my eggs benny and bottomless mimosas. I promise, I'm not hurting anyone. p.s. Jules, I forgive you.
  • I wrote a piece on what it's like to be assaulted.
  • Currently sat on a plane en-route to NYC for what will hopefully be the last time. I'm packing up all my stuff and moving back west. #GIRLBOSS is my in-flight read of choice and I'm stoked. Anyone else read this? What's your take?
  • This tweet.
  • There's a Henri Matisse exhibit happening at the MoMA in NYC until Feb 2015. Go!
  • Also, this fall foliage map is epic. Thankful I'll be in New York during one of the most gorgeous times of year.

...

Music:

  • Made in Heights is back — that should come as no surprise. They're easily becoming one of my favorite groups. This song is no exception.
  • Sebastian Carter does some of my favorite remixes as of late. Can't stop listening to this one lately.
  • Disco inspired everything, please and thank you. Girl, Forever by Satin Jackets is my god damn jam. I've found myself throwing this on repeat countless times the past few weeks. No regrets — this track is incredible.
  • Rolling by Jugu was a recommendation from a friend and yup, it made the list because it's exactly the kind of thing I've been into lately. A bit mysterious, semi-sensual vocals.
  • I'm a big fan of bonobo so when I saw Flashlight pop-up in my Soundcloud stream, I was stoked. Never a letdown.
  • Stay With Us by • Seoul • is one of those feel good songs. The kind of song I tend to listen to while getting ready. Atmospheric, light, ambient. Light some candles, watch the rain. This is good stuff.
  • Holy mother of Jon Hopkins. I feel like I'll never get over this song. I'm a fan of Jon Hopkins, don't get me wrong, but this track is out of this world. So beautiful. Just give it a listen.
...

That's all for this week's lil review. Tomorrow I'll be back posting more normal stuffs, yay!

moodboard: six

Perhaps our eyes need to be washed by our tears once in a while, so that we can see life with a clearer view again.”

I haven't done one of these in a while and sometimes it's good to just throw some stuff together and moodboard; it's so therapeutic.

I'm moving back to San Francisco after a short stint in Baltimore and Brooklyn. I'm not going to deny my love for the east coast, namely New York, but I think I just got very used to California living. Plus like, palm trees and park hangs are the best (even if there is better avocado toast in NYC).

I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do with the new space I have. My bedroom has a fireplace which is so sick — but also very dark. I want to keep the space a bit airy and light with the occasional moody accent. My wardrobe might be 75% black but I'm a sucker for neutrals and pink.

I already own some nice sheets but who can deny the greatness of linen? If money were no object (or rather, buyers remorse), I would throw this blanket right on top because look at it. It's literally perfect. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I've been whining about wanting this MUJI diffuser for ages. Guys, it's happening for reals. Gimme all your lavender. And for lounging around this perfect little space? Base Range. Amazing brand — comfiest underthings ever. This bra in blush is a dream.

Other little things are some homewares and this Bad Bitch necklace from In God We Trust because this week has definitely made me feel like one.

Place of Interest: Two Hands · Little Italy, NYC

  • Still stuck on Duolingo. Level 9 in French. Vous venez ici souvent?
  • Brace yourselves: Radiohead is coming back.
  • NYT Cooking is great. I'm addicted to the New York Times, if you haven't figured that out by now. I read it every morning (except today). Oops. The Newstand app is great. So is the NYT Now app... but I really just prefer this NYT Skimmer for web. So good.
  • I'm still dying for one of these

...

Music:

  • Lia Ices has been on repeat all week. Thousand Eyes in particular, though. This song is pretty freaking great in every sense of the word.
  • Pretty jealous of everyone who saw KAYTRANADA this weekend in SF. This one has got it goin' on.
  • I think I love Fouk! It's a thing. I can't help it. This is no exception; a play on elevator music? Oh god yes. Just listen to it. Close your eyes. Enjoy.
  • This one's a bit older but I went to see with my babely boyfriend last night and DAMN. She puts on a great show. If you have the chance to go see her, I would definitely suggest going. When she started singing this song I FREAKED OUT. I mean, who wouldn't?
  • I'm not sure if it's the weather or what but I've been digging atmospheric stuff a lot lately. As per usual, Tycho doesn't disappoint. See is a good one.
  • I'm always on the hunt for new stuff. I came across Gidge on Rdio and was immediately obsessed with this song. The entire album is pretty ace but this song is just something else. It was nothing like I expected to be, and I think that's what I love most about it.
  • POOM! I can't ever say no to some good French music. POOM is a favorite of mine and their newest track De la Vitesse à l'lvresse is smooth, sensual, and sweet. Just like I like it.

Hope everyone has an amazing weekend! Until next time...

Diptyque Do Son Eau de Toilette

Diptyque Do Son Eau de Toilette · $90 (50ml)

I rarely stray from my go-to scents. They're familiar and comfortable and I love them but sometimes a perfume comes around and I just can't say no. I kindly blame Zack for getting me this beauty in solid-form for Christmas. I tried to make that thing last as long as possible but like, it's such an amazing smell that I wanted to constantly apply it all over myself. Whoops.

So I gave in, as one does, and took a little trip to the Diptyque store. If you haven't been to one, go. It's a magical place — I can assure you that much. Luckily it was one of those "I already know what I want so hopefully I won't get sucked into anything else" type shopping trips. I left with one beautiful 50ml bottle of Do Son and I swear I was so excited I must have skipped the entire way home.

My favorite part about Do Son (other than the smell, duh) is the description that Diptyque has on their site. It goes a little something like:

"Relief from the sweltering climate, a pagoda on the shores of Ha Long Bay, where trade winds tenderly caress the flowers. A name that sings, undulating like waves upon a beach. Do Son is an eau de toilette rich with contrast, exuding the fresh, intoxicating sensuality of tuberose."

And if that doesn't make you at least a little intrigued about Do Son, I'm not sure what will. Pop into your nearest Diptyque and let your nose do all the work. Oh, and let me know your favorite Diptyque scents!

Phytodéfrisant Botanical Straightening Balm

Phytodéfrisant Botanical Straightening Balm · $28

Spoiler alert: if I had to use only one product on my hair for the rest of my life (aside from shampoo and conditioner, of course) it would be this. Hands down. No questions asked. I praise the Phyto gods for creating this stuff. Thanks, guys.

The first time I tried this was a few years back — I had a sample from Sephora but for some reason never purchased the full-size. Until now, of course. My move to Brooklyn came with some things I was familiar with but hadn't dealt with in a while. Namely: super sticky gross humid weather and stuffy suffocating subway air. Do you know how hard it is to keep your locks frizz-free during summers in NYC? The answer is very (and I was very over trying).

Here's the thing, this stuff is damn near perfect. It's heat activated and locks in hydration leaving you with super smooth, super silky hair. I've noticed that my straight hair lasts a few extra days when using this which means I'm using less heat on my hair overall. I wouldn't even consider blow-drying my hair without this stuff now. I'm sold and this is definitely going to be one of those products I repurchase time and time again.

Have you guys used this before (or other Phyto products)?  What's your all-time favorite frizz-fighter?

Q + A

Happy Monday! A few days ago I posted that I was going to be doing a q + a because of some questions I received via tumblr so here goes nothin'!

"You always have such perfect brownish-nude lips! What lipsticks do you use?"
Firstly, thanks! Nude has definitely been my thing lately. I have so many nude/browns but these are what I use most often: MAC Hug Me, MAC Modesty, MAC Viva Glam V Lipgloss, Dior Addict Lipstick in Tokyo, MAC Patisserie, NARS Pigalle. I also am a bit obsessed with nude liners. I think I might do a post on this, what do you guys think?

___

"Your hair looks amazing! What shampoo have you been using? Love your blog! Ignore the haters, you are doing great. :D"
Thank you! I've been using Alterna's Caviar Repair RX Instant Recovery Shampoo + the corresponding conditioner. I'm really liking it thus far!

___

"Hi, Chelsea! Which products do you use for a makeup in the day?"
Hiya! I've gotten into a little routine which I don't actually mind and it's something like:
___

"What do you do for workouts and stuff? You seem to be in great shape!!"
This is nice because I've seriously gotten off track, whoops. Anyway! I try to eat really healthy Mon-Fri and I work out most days for 30-60 minutes. I like to stick to weights, but I do go for runs every now and again. I walk a *lot* and just try to keep everything fairly balanced!
___

"1. Top 3 favorite MAC products? / 2. Favorite nail polish atm & all time favorite? / 3. Favorite TV shows? / 4. Did you like Charmed growing up? (I was obsessed :D) / 5. Do you like the movie "The Craft"? (Witchy teamed questions!) / 6. This weekly post sounds perfect to me! / 7. A more general question, but could you, when time allows you, post ootd's? I love your style so much and need inspiration! Ps: love the blog, everything you do and you so much! Thanks for doing this! <3"
Oh my god this question is so great. Seven questions in one, WOO.
1. All of their lipsticks, honestly. Hug Me, Patisserie, Dark Side, and Ruby Woo are especially great IMO.
2. My favorite nail polish right now is straight up black! My favorite nail polish is either Essie Wicked or OPI Samoan Sand!
3. This is a good one! I don't watch much TV but when I do: American Horror Story, Twin Peaks, Parks and Rec, Bob's Burgers, Law and Order: SVU, etc
4. I LOVED Charmed growing up. I wanted to be Piper + be with Leo.
5. The Craft is amazing. Cult films forever.
6. I'm so glad you like the weekly post! They're so fun for me to do!
7. I would love to get back into doing OOTDs honestly. I love fashion and even more than that I love personal style posts so I'll see what I can do!
Thanks so much for the lovely questions.
___

"What are the necessary makeup items you can not live without?"
All of 'em! Hahaha no but seriously: brow pencil, mascara, lipstick!

I'm thinking maybe next time I do a q+a I will make a video — what do you guys think? Seems like it'd be way easier than formatting a long post like this. Leave any questions you might have below or send them over here.

NARS Semi Matte Lipstick in Pigalle

NARS Semi Matte Lipstick in Pigalle · $26

If you've been reading my blog for even just like, a second, you'll know what kind of lip colors I gravitate towards. Pigalle is described as pink chocolate and I mean COME ON. Pigalle also reminds me of the metro and Paris and all the things I love in life so I couldn't say no. Well I could have, but why would I want to?

I'd never really considered buying a NARS lipstick before this one. No real reason for that; I've been a MAC lipstick girl for ages and never felt like I wanted to stray. But as one does, I was checking out NARS in Sephora, swatching everything like a crazy person and I found Pigalle and all I could think was yessssss. The thing I love about this color is that it's perfect for this summer to autumn transition period. It's not too pink, not too brown and lasts for ages! Heat, cold, whatever the weird in-between weather might be! Looks amazing with summer brights or fall darks. It's been my go-to for the last few weeks and I don't see that changing anytime soon!

Lastly I should say, I usually don't buy matte lipsticks but this one isn't at all drying and doesn't make your lips look more chapped, which is always a plus. If you're in the market for a color like this go and check it out. It's my new fav!

What's In My Bag for Fashion Week

This is a bit exciting, I suppose! A little while back I shot a video with Glam while I was in San Francisco about what I'd pack in my bag for fashion week. The concept was to curate a little bag that you could take straight from the airport to NYFW. Simple, right? Not so much as I wanted to pack all black. Tell me if you're surprised!

In my Cuyana Tote was:

YSL Rouge Volupté Shine #10, Chocolate Instyle
MAC Rebel
MAC Breath of Plum

Shoemint heels (similar here)
Catbird + Endswell rings
Beanie from Voyager

Dress from Wasteland
Helmut Lang skirt
Romper from Jane's Closet
Zara leather jacket

Samsung NX-300

That romper has been in full rotation and I don't think I've gone two days without wearing that beanie since I got it. I finished that YSL lipstick since shooting (RIP) and will probably repurchase; we all know I love those 90's brown lips. Still digging that leather jacket I bought a few years back — so impressed with the quality of Zara's leather goods, if I'm being honest. And of course I go nowhere without my lil camera + rings. Woo.

I had so much fun shooting and love how it came out. Check out the video, let me know what you think, and leave me some comments telling me what you would put in your bag for fashion week, yay!

P.S. Give a little love to Kristen and Kelly; they were amazing!

August 2014 Favorites

How crazy is it that August is over? Gonna be honest though, super stoked for fall weather; leaves changing, chilly nights and gorgeous days. Put me on a rooftop and give me a glass of Pinot and I'll be good. I think I have an obsession with rooftops, guys.

It's been hot in New York — really hot with a stupid amount of humidity that makes you want to shower 341482 times a day. Not cute, therefore minimalism was definitely a thing for me. Less is more and all that jazz.

To help combat oils, I stuck to the matte side of MAKE's Custom Finish Effects Matte Dew.  It's super silky and will help in any places you need a little less shine. On the other hand, when the nights are cooler, I've been loving the dewy side for a purposely-glowy boost. It's perfect and I really want to try their Face Gloss when the cooler weather comes.

Nude lips are my thing as of late. MAC's Hug Me + Viva Glam V Lipglass are the perfect combo. I usually hate lipgloss but I can't stop wearing this one. If you're looking for a pink nude that leans towards the brown side (as I normally do), definitely check these two out. Obsessed.

While NARS Douceur is my every-day blush of choice, I've started to fall a bit for Margin again. It's kind of a brown peach color with a frost finish so it's gorgeous on tanned / yellow-toned skin. Paired with the aforementioned nude lip and a bit of liner? Hell yes.

Switching gears to bases, Fresh's moisturizer is still in rotation. It's light and hydrating and I can't get enough. NARS Tinted Moisturizer is the new love of my life. It stays on through the hot summer days and doesn't melt off while waiting for the subway (guuuuuuhhhh). The coverage is on the lighter side but totally buildable.

And so we have my August favorites. Let me know if you guys would like me to do separate reviews for any of these! Happy September!

I'm in Brooklyn now! What's up New York~! I guess I'm not sure how to go about this because I don't really feel like the same person that I was when I started this blog. Things change, I've changed! Early Spring Favorites

Let's just start out by saying that I am so stupidly thankful the snow is gone. Now I can only hope it stays that way *fingers crossed*. I'm not normally that into spring to be honest. I dig summer, love fall, and winter is pretty enough for me to deal but there's just something very meh about spring weather for me. Those in-between days where it's too windy to go sans-jacket but if you're in the sun long enough it's just ugh, sweltering? I can't get behind it. That said, all I want is sun and I don't care if I need light layers. I will do it as long as there is no more snow. And with that, all the pretty berry shades I own will be used a little less and the peachy ones a bit more. You know, cuz I'm predictable and all.

When I got my hair cut in January (best haircut eva) my stylist recommended the Moroccan Oil Glimmer Spray. Basically does what it says +  protects your hair against sun and a bunch of other elements. Considering it hit 80º here on Sunday, I'd say this is a definite must for the warmer months. It's been a daily-use product for me and I couuuld live without it but like, why would I want to?

I'm back in the Burberry game, back to the first perfume I ever wore (and stuck to) and I still love it all the same. It's such a light, sexy scent which is one of the reasons why it'll be on rotation all throughout the spring and summer.

Face/base wise, I've been fairly consistent these past few months. Cleanse, tone, and moisturize with the Fresh's Lotus Moisturizer. It's super light on the skin which is reaaaaally important to me. It keeps my skin feeling perfectly hydrated and supple and I love it. The smell is pretty lovely too. For foundation I've been using Bobbi Brown Longwear quite a bit. It's so glorious and I'm not sure why it took me so long to try. Sometimes I mix it with primer for a lighter, daytime coverage and then I'll build it up for nights out. It's incredibly versatile and the shade range is pretty great. I really want to check out the BB cream next — do any of you recommend it?

Moving on to MAC. Ahhh, who doesn't love some classic MAC shades? I bought Harmony so long ago and was obsessed, then I fell out of love (as one can sometimes do), and then rediscovered it not too long ago. What the hell was I thinking? It's the perfect spring contour if I don't want to go all out with NARS Laguna. It's subtle and it's matte — plus it looks good paired with all my favorite peachy pink blushes. For lips I've been sticking with nudes/browns; must be the 90s thing going on. Anyway, Modesty is amazing and very similar to Patisserie except it's less pink and more nude.

I'll probably do a follow up post / monthly favorites posts after this but I just thought I'd talk about my favorite things as of late. What are you guys loving?!

BASE range

Base Range / baserange.net

While I tend to daydream of warmer weather, lacy underthings, and unlimited glasses of the perfect Pinot Noir, I can't help but lust over the comfier lookin' pieces sometimes. Especially in this frigid weather; some high waisted jersey bottoms and a cup of the best chai w/ almond milk seems a bit too perfect for me. And who says these aren't sexy, eh?

On one hand, I could see myself (for sure) donning these little babies in the cooler months and yet I can also definitely see myself lounging around the house in them in the summer months. Pairing something like the Classic Longsleeve Linen Jersey shirt with those cute knee highs (which I am a huuuuge fan of) equals the perfect lazy Sunday uniform. I can picture it: windows open, a slight breeze through the curtains, lazing around in bed casually popping raspberries into my mouth. Bring on the brunch.

Aside from adorable underthings, Base Range has some great loungewear and even a bit of outerwear. It's all about that effortless modern aesthetic that I'm into. They also have bras that don't look like they were only made for small chested ladies, which is a big A+++ in my book. Their minimalistic yet chic designs are what's keeping me interested because as we all know: sometimes less is more. Plus, I'm a sucker for anything that'll make me feel a bit more feminine. I'm just that kind of girl.

What do you guys think of Base Range? What are your favorite pieces / other places to shop for underthings?!

moodboard: cinq

I don’t want to live, I want to love first and live incidentally.”

PSA: I'm kind of over the cold. Since moving back to the East Coast from California, I've encountered quite a few snow storms, state of emergencies, and possibly too many cups of tea. I'm ready for warm(er) weather. Lazy days mean that moodboarding is back in full swing, as is my peach obsession (oops?). It happens.

These beauty-wants aren't much of a suprise — at some point I'll to replenish the Diptyque Do Son solid perfume that my lil bb Zack got me for Christmas, and I've been eyeing up the EDP. I do really adore the solid though, so I may have to just get another of those. /indecisive. And while I love me some Klorane dry shampoo, the new Bb Prêt-à-Powder looks pretty freakin' amazing. Aside from it being dry shampoo, it'll be great to use on clean hair days for a bit of extra oomph. I have a mini of Benefit's Watt's Up but at some point I'll cave and purchase the full size. It is one of the best highlighters ever, isn't it?

My current daily bag should probably not be used as a daily bag and lately I've been on a bucket bag kick. This Jujumade bucket bag looks perfect and is giving another contender a run for it's money.  It's too perfect. Toooooo perfect.

If you're not familiar, I'm really into Fleetwood Mac. I saw this print of Stevie and feel like I pretty much need it in my life. Keeping with the slight witchy theme in my life, this Two Moon cuff is calling my name but dang, that price is keeping me far, far away.

Housewares-wise, I'm loving the look of this Marbled Pinch Pot to keep my rings and dainty things in. It's the perfect nude shade if you ask me. Plus I feel like a bit of rose gold would look amazing set inside it. Lastly, a jasmine scented candle by A.P.C. Floral scents for Spring? Yeah, that kind of cliché.

It's nice to be back. Now gimme some sun, pretty please.

2014 Astrology Calendar

If you don't know by now, you should probably know: I'm kind of obsessed with astrology. I say "kind of" but what I really mean is wow omg I'm so obsessed give me everything please okay thank you. I'm very unapologetic about it all too — I know some people think it's complete crap buuuut I'm not some people and I luv it. Gimme the constellations, gimme the moon, most of all give me my horoscope (and like 50 iOS horoscope apps). Thanks in advance.

This calendar is a thing of beauty. I'm quite thankful that a certain lovely person found this baby on tumblr and sent it my way; it's totally me. Each month isn't exactly a real month — no January 1-31 here. Instead, the months + days go by sign. Right now we're in Pisces, which goes from the end of February to the end of March. The whole concept is pretty adorable and I'm down with livin' my days by the star signs. To be fair, I kind of do already but now I'm on a whole nother level. Plus, helloooooo, the calendar itself is absolutely gorgeous. It's high quality prints on some high quality paper and easily worth the twenty bucks (+ shipping) that I paid for it. If I could I would stare at it all day long. I'm that in love.

Part of me hopes I can get a calendar like this every year. Let's make it happen, Prismatic Print Shop!
p.s. What's yo sign?! ♌︎ I'm a Leo. Is that surprising?

Essie Berry Naughty

Essie Berry Naughty · $8.50

I guess you could say I'm on a berry kick at the moment. Berry nails, very berry lips, and actually, I've been downing some amazing smoothies during brunch as of late.

I never used to be a dark nails kind of girl. I've always felt somewhat intimidated by them, if I'm quite honest. But now? I seem to be 1000% channeling my inner witch. I slightly blame all the Fleetwood Mac I've been listening to, but hey, I'm just doing my thing (and plus, who can deny the greatness that is Stevie Nicks?!).

Let's be real though, this color is pretty amazing. I'm still not sure if I love it as much as Essie Wicked, which was the last color I donned on my lil finger tips, but it's up there in deep polishes that I adore. The name is soooo punny but I 'spose I am berry naughty as of late. Har har.

As an aside: I absolutely loathe how Essie's polishes wear. I'm lucky if I can get a good five days out of them and that's with a solid coat of Seche Vite. I expect a bit more from such a popular company that isn't on the cheap side. But alas, the color range is incredible and I personally can't seem to keep away (obviously). So if you don't mind having to redo your manicure every few days and are looking for a lovely deep purpley red, go. for. it.

What are some of your favorite dark polishes? I'm definitely in the market for some new colors!

mixtape 03 · songs for ghosts

Life is a little funny sometimes. One minute you think you understand and the next you're swept off your feet and exhausted from not knowing It's funny how that works. I've been away for a while but *fingers crossed* I'll do my best to stick around. I miss this space.

I've been really into music that has an eerie aspect to it — but like, when is that not true about the music I like? Long drawn out instrumentals and pop-like beats with a little bit of mystery. Queue smoke machine and loads of witchy candles. Am I predictable yet?!?!

This little mix is a compilation of all of the songs that have kept me sane these past two months. I'm thankful for the little escape that a compilation of sounds and voices can provide. Something that keeps me from just floatin' on away into some crazy unknown oblivion in a whole other dimension. I feel eerily like myself again. I'm totally a ghost. Now I'm just talking shit. Anyway, enjoy the mix.

Endswell

The Endswell Collection · endswell.co

A few months back I met with the lovely Rachel, one half of Yield Design Co, and chatted with her over lunch at a cute little cafe in Hayes Valley. I spotted a ring that she was wearing and (obviously) immediately asked where it was from; turns out, she designed it herself. Two of her friends had gotten married and she designed their wedding bands — how ridiculously awesome is that?

The process is what interested me: each ring is designed, 3D printed, and then cast in gold. A mix of old and new technologies; something with a story. And alas, the modern heirloom was born. I've stuck around for the ride — hanging out around the office snapping photos and instagrams, learning about the process, and I've loved every minute. Andrew and Rachel are super fun to be around and so absurdly talented that it's hard not to be inspired by what they do (and want to be a part of it).

It's been so incredible watching the collection unfold and come to be what it is today. More than anything I'm so excited to see where this goes next. Each ring is beautifully crafted, is of the highest quality, and most of all made with tons of love and excitement. Do I sound cliché enough? I'm obviously quite biased but let's be real, how could I not be?

Be sure to follow Endswell on Instagram for all the pretty photos and Twitter for any sweet little updates. <3

For the record, this post is not sponsored in any way, shape, or form. I just love 'em!
Photos by me, except for the render which was allllll Rachel!
